Geographical Indication

Made from the Philippines’ first GI-protected fruit, supplied by the farm whose owner chairs the cooperative that registered it.

Guimaras Mango is the first Geographical Indication registered in the Philippines — the same legal category that protects Champagne and Parmigiano-Reggiano. It is not a marketing phrase but a designation granted by the Intellectual Property Office, and it is printed on the farm’s own export carton.

Rose Griesser chairs the Guimaras Mango Growers and Producers Development Cooperative, the body that registered it. Guimaras Wonder’s Farm is the named supplier on the carton.

How an order works

From tree to your door.

  1. 01

    Harvest

Carabao mango is bagged by hand on the branch months before it is picked, then cut when a refractometer says the sugar is where it should be — not when the calendar says so.

  2. 02

    Hot water treatment

    Required by law

Washed, then hot water treated to the Geographical Indication standard. No chemicals. It is the mandatory quarantine step, it is why the fruit is allowed to leave the country, and they explain it to every school group that walks the orchard.

  3. 03

    Grade and pack

Sorted by hand on the shared grading floor. Fruit that will not travel becomes jam, pickles or dried mango the same week rather than a loss. Every carton is printed with the GI line and the farm named as supplier.

  4. 04

    Ship

Fresh fruit goes by pre-order against the next harvest: you order before the cut-off, they pick, then they ship. Preserves and dried fruit keep, so they leave whenever you order them.

Airspeed and Philippine Airlines carry the fruit; G5 International and Etmar handle export freight. Delivery windows are quoted per order, because fresh mango ships against a harvest date rather than from a shelf. Lead times to be confirmed.

Natural farming

A claim we argue, not a badge we print.

Nothing synthetic goes on this fruit, and the farm can name what does. The trees are fed Oriental Herbal Nutrients. Pests meet a herbal insecticide brewed on site from garlic, ginger, hot pepper, oregano, curry and neem. Growth comes from a fermented plant juice foliar feed, and the soil is rebuilt with vermicompost from African night crawlers.

The test they trust is simpler than any label: the bees stayed. A sprayed orchard loses them first, and theirs are still working the blossom — along with the butterflies and the stingless native bees.

The farm is at pre-inspection for formal organic certification and will not print a seal it has not earned. What it can say plainly: chemical free, naturally grown, and preserves put up without added chemical preservatives.

The family

A cooperative first, a brand second.

Rose Griesser is from Bulacan. Erwin Griesser is from Austria. They met working for a big hotel in Manila, then left it to plant trees on eight hectares in Alaguisoc, Jordan. Their son Christian Philipp works in the business now. That is the whole company.

“I’m so blessed to be a farmer, entrepreneur, visiting amazing farms, seeing different shapes of mangoes, enjoying Nature.”
